Victorian Open Short Course

The Victorian Open Short Course Championships were held at MSAC on 18/19 July which saw a fantastic level of performance by the elite swimmers of the state. Dean Bickerdike and Kate Sommerfield travelled to MSAC over the weekend with both swimmers recording some fine performances. Dean recorded a personal best time of 26:84 in the Mens 50m Butterfly finishing in the top 20. Dean also swam strongly in 50m & 100m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly to finish in the top half of the field. Kate took 1.5 sec off her PB in the 100m breaststroke
to finish with 1:18:49. On Sunday she recorded a scorching time of 35:70 in the 50m breaststroke finishing in 15th position behind winner of the event Leisel Jones.

Kylie Black also qualified for the championships but was unable to compete owing to illness. She did however attend the meet on Sunday offering support to the other swimmers. Thanks Kylie!
