Recent Success

All Juniors 2008
Twenty six swimmers from Warragul travelled to MSAC on Saturday 29 March to compete in the semi-finals of the Country All Juniors. Warragul was well represented across all age groups with many swimmers achieving personal best times in the semi final heats. The following swimmers were amongst the 10 fastest qualifiers who swam in the finals on Sunday:
Rhys Matchett, Rachael Davine, Michaela Rutherford, Gemma Radosavljevic, Sarah Davine, Hannah Matchett, Kate Davine, Hannah Accardi, James Murray, Zoe Barwick, Claudia Wyatt, Rachael Bradley, Courtney Evison, Jordan Radosavljevic, Kate Sommerfield & Rebecca Wardell.

There were many outstanding performances over the weekend but special mention must go to Rhys Matchett who swam in all 4 finals of 8yrs and under and won 3 gold medals. Well done Rhys!

A big thank you to all the team managers and coaches who assisted our swimmers throughout the weekend. Thanks to the parents who traveled to MSAC over the weekend and also the swimmers who continued training hard when the rest of the club was resting!

Swimmers selected for Victorian Country Squad
Gold squad swimmers Dean Bickerdike and Rebecca Wardell were recently selected by Swimming Victoria to participate in the development program for 2008-09 as members of the Victorian Country Squad. The squad comprises 18 swimmers chosen from throughout Victoria. Selection to this squad is through consideration of performances over the preceding season, based on a series or criteria, qualifying times and standards.

The focus of the Country Squad is to develop athletes to compete successfully at the Victorian Age Championships and qualify for the Australian Age Championships in April 2009. Swimmers will take part in a two day camp later in the year.

Congratulations Rebecca and Dean — the Water Warriors are extremely proud of your achievements.
