June 2008 Report

We would like to extend a warm welcome to new swimming club families and welcome back those swimmers returning to the club. Last season many of our swimmers enjoyed success at the State Championships, Country Championships, State Shortcourse, Gippsland Champsionships and most
recently All Juniors. It is wonderful to see all the hardwork and dedication of both swimmers and their parents rewarded at swim meets.

It is also important to remember that all successful clubs have a strong band of hardworking parents
in the background doing a variety of tasks, to ensure the smooth running of the club.

As we move into the 2008/09 season I would like to thank the coaches, team managers and committee members who have freely given hours of their time
over the previous weeks preparing for the commencement of the season. This includes many
meetings where squad allocation is discussed in depth, meetings with the Baw Baw Shire and the
Leisure Centre regarding pool usage, liaising with Swimming Victoria about the new registration
system together with printing and collating of letters and invoices to all members.

It is often easy to sit on the sidelines and be critical of the work others are doing so I would ask that if you identify an issue that requires improvement, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or other committee members. Please consider being a valuable part of your child’s progress and offer your time and energy in a constructive way that will assist the club.

The Country Championships will be held this year at Sale over the Australia Day weekend 24-26 January
2009 and the club will be focussing on as many swimmers as possible attaining their country times and attending.

The club will be holding our annual twilight meet on 9/10 August. I look forward to all members enjoying
a fun and successful season.
